Falling
Part of the Lazarus Series
Falling is the novella that wouldn't quit. I wrote it in late 2021 and sent it to my editor. She sent back the standard notes and edits, but there was one line at the very beginning of her summary email that stuck out. "This is a fine little novella, but it keeps wanting to be so much more." And she was right, as I wrote its 42,000 words it kept wanting to grow. Holding it back stunted the story. It is at least a trilogy in the Lazarus series.
A CRISPR scientist creates a gene tech that has amazing potential to cure almost any disease. But also and quite unexpectedly those it cures get physically younger. Her twin sister, an FBI agent, tries in vain to find her, but she is gone and her agency won't help. Long ago she worked with an Agent code named Lazarus. Finally, in desperation she reaches out to him.
